matrix and max7219
« on: July 16, 2011, 02:30:58 PM »
being breif i want to run a couple of rgb matrix`s using max 7219 no it is not the best on market, but would it be possible to run three 7219`s
simultaneously using three rx/tx ports from a mega board, my train of thought being a dived matrix into 4 sections and divide into 3 of above  i`m just finding my way.

thanks in advance

What do you plan to use the serial lines for?

it was to drive the 7219`s one for each colour intially, but with hind sight the programm would be to complex,am reconsiderirng using quad gates and mosfet, for current this maybe simplify program,as a matter of intrest is it possible to run three serial line`s in one program or would they conflict??

they can be run in the same program, no problem, but those chip do not use Serial as such, they can use any pins with their protocol

as the expression goes "if you dont ask you dont learn"
did not realise that they did not rely on serial, but i dont think that will aid the project anyway.

thanks

hi Alex, not sure, I believe you can cascade those controllers to manage multiple displays.
