Matrix library and LinkSprite LED Matrix Kit
« on: April 18, 2014, 04:34:09 PM »
Hello,

So… I bought two of this:
http://linksprite.com/wiki/index.php5?title=LED_Matrix_Kit

And I have them connected like this:

WIRING --- MATRIX 1 (J1)
       5V --- VCC
    GND --- GND
    PIN8 --- DIN
    PIN9 --- CS
  PIN10 --- CLK

MATRIX 1 (J2) --- MATRIX 2 (J1)
              VCC --- VCC
             GND --- GND
           DOUT --- DIN
                CS --- CS
              CLK --- CLK

First I wanted to use the Matrix library but none of the examples worked (nothing happened) even if I connected just one Matrix.

Here is the code I was using (the website example changing the pins):

#include "Binary.h"
#include "Sprite.h"
#include "Matrix.h"

Matrix myMatrix = Matrix(8, 10, 9);

void setup()
{
}

void loop()
{
  myMatrix.clear(); // clear display

  delay(1000);

  // turn some pixels on
  myMatrix.write(1, 5, HIGH);
  myMatrix.write(2, 2, HIGH);
  myMatrix.write(2, 6, HIGH);
  myMatrix.write(3, 6, HIGH);
  myMatrix.write(4, 6, HIGH);
  myMatrix.write(5, 2, HIGH);
  myMatrix.write(5, 6, HIGH);
  myMatrix.write(6, 5, HIGH);

  delay(1000);
}

Then I tried the example code given by LinkSprite in their wiki (http://linksprite.com/wiki/index.php5?title=LED_Matrix_Kit) and it worked. But both matrix showed me the same thing.

Can anyone help me by telling where how should I change the content of the second matrix?
Or giving me any ideas to get the Matrix library to work?

I'm adding a picture of my wiring.

Thanks!

hi Jaime, the code you tried from link sprite works with the Matrix library? or is it a standalone library?

Stand alone.

I ended up using another code (also stand alone) that worked perfectly for daisy chaining the modules. (It's attached to this message)

Matrix library didn't seemed to work…

Hello,

I'd like to know if the example Matrix work allready for this devices ( http://linksprite.com/wiki/index.php5?title=LED_Matrix_Kit ). I have two also, and they don't work with the examples.
I don't know what happens with the example Matrix and this devices...

Thank you very much for your help.
