Electronics Questions / Re: Wiring a new timer
« on: February 20, 2013, 05:39:05 PM »

Do you have a model number and MFG name?  That would be helpful.

Make sure the Breaker is OFF or the Fuse is OUT before you work on it. Do the following at your own risk.

From my Experience, about forty year, the white wire should go to the neutral wire, another white wire.  Which is not one of the original wires.  You may need to pull one in or fish it out of the box.  The Black wire goes to the original black wire, which should be Line or hot wire.  The red wire should go to the Whitish wire, this should be your load or light.  Make sure you use the right size wire nuts and use electrical tape to ensure the wire nuts will not come off.
Your timer switch needs power to run it.  It uses the black and white wires for power.  It has a relay inside it that also uses the black.  The relay connects and disconnect the red wire from the power, the black wire.

I hope this Helps!

Project Questions / Guidelines / Re: machine switch

I need a little more information.   Is the Motor AC or DC?  What voltage is the motor.  How much Amps does the motor draw?

The easiest way to do this is with a MOSFET and Relay.  But the type of relay depends on the requirements of the motor.  I you do not want to open the switch box.  you will most likely need a Relay with a coil voltage of 5-12 volts DC and a contact rating depending what country your in.  If you in the USA 110 - 120 volts AC with about 15 amp continuous.  There is an example for a MOSFET controlled relay on the wiring web site.  Get me some more info and I'll help you get it rolling.

By the way could let the forum know what project you are working on?  It make it more interesting for everyone.

Thank you

I re-installed both 0027 and 1.0.  Now they both have it available.

for some reason my Maximum Robotics board(old 1.0) Does not like the new wiring 1.0.  I have to use 0027 to get it to program.

 Thank you for the help

I could not find the Liquidcrystle lib.  I had to run 0027 to use it.  Where do I put it so I can use it with the new version of wiring?
